Happy Trails To The Waterfall

Jenesa and I thought it would be fun to go horseback riding while on vacation to the Catarata Rio Fortuna waterfall.  Once there, we would be able to swim in the "natural pool" below the waterfall for an hour.  Giddy up!

Excursion #4 - Horseback Riding To The Falls

It took us roughly 40 minutes to ride to the site of the waterfall.....across the Costa Rican countryside and through the backwoods of La Fortuna.  When we finally arrived, we hiked downhill 1/2 mile into the rain forest to get to the waterfall.  The Rio Fortuna waterfall is 70m high....and the fresh water below is as blue as can be! 

Jenesa wasted no time climbing down through the rocks and swimming out into the crystal clear pool below the falls (can you see her?).  A nice, refreshing way to spend our morning!

The horseback ride back to the ranch provided us with an added bonus!  Today the skies were as clear as could be.....and we were one of the lucky few to see the Arenal Volcano in all its glory.  Usually, a hazy cloud sits atop the volcano.....and many tourists who visit the area fail to ever see the peak.
